Introduction to Dental Microscopy and Advanced Endodontics: A Two-Day Hands-On Workshop

A stimulating two-day course combining the most current technological methods for endodontics and the fundamentals of clinical microscopy for dentistry. Participants will focus on clinically relevant information that is needed to provide successful advanced procedures for restorative and endodontic procedures, and use that information as they perform their dentistry with the aid of the dental operating microscope (DOM). Participants will learn the requirements for incorporating the DOM into their daily dental practice and perform psychomotor skills including tooth preparations, endodontic access, instrumentation and obturation, retreatment and endodontic surgery, on extracted teeth. Novel Nickel Titanium rotary files, irrigation devices, and ultrasonic uses in endodontics will be presented.
Jeffrey M. Coil, DMD., M.S.D., Ph.D., F.R.C.D.(C), F.A.D.I., received his undergraduate, dental and doctorate degrees from the University of British Columbia. He practiced general dentistry for 8 years and was a Clinical Instructor in Endodontics and Periodontics, before obtaining his certificate in Endodontics at the University of Washington in 1993. Dr. Coil is a Diplomate, American Board of Endodontics. He serves as an editorial consultant for the Journal of the Canadian Dental Association and on the Scientific Advisory Board for the Journal of Endodontics. He is a past President of the Canadian Academy of Endodontics, and is a member of the British Columbia Society of Endodontists and the American Association of Endodontists. Dr. Coil is the mentor of the Northwest Endodontic Study Club and Seminar, and is currently the Director of the Graduate Endodontics Program, Department of Oral Biological and Medical Sciences, UBC.
Aesthetics & Function of Ceramic Restorations

The use of modern ceramics has opened the opportunity for dentists to design and deliver beautiful restorations, teeth, and enhanced smiles. "Aesthetics & Function" is the key to the success of all dental work including ceramic veneers, crowns, and bridges. This one-day course will cover aesthetics concepts, dental materials, occlusion, and longevity of ceramic restorations and complete rehabilitations. An emphasis will be placed upon the clinical use of the new aesthetic restorative materials including zirconium dioxide and lithium disilicate glass ceramics.
Chris Wyatt, BSc, DMD, MSc, FRCD(C), Dip Pros, is a Certified Specialist in Prosthodontics and an Associate Professor and Head of the Division of Prosthodontics and Dental Geriatrics at the University of British Columbia, Faculty of Dentistry. He has published numerous papers in the field of prosthodontics, implant dentistry, dental caries, and geriatrics. In 1998, Dr. Wyatt was the recipient of the Killam Teaching Award and is the 2009 recipient of the W.W. Wood Award for "Excellence in Dental Education." Dr. Wyatt is past President of the Association of Prosthodontists of Canada and the BC Society of Prosthodontists, and an associate member of the Pacific Coast Society for Prosthodontics. He is an active member of the Canadian Dental Association, British Columbia Dental Association, and the College of Dental Surgeons of British Columbia.
