Highlights from General Practice Residents Research Day and awards and certificates of completion ceremony

The General Practice Residency (GPR) Training Program celebrated their annual research day this year on Thursday, June 2, 2011. General practice residents, or GPRs, are licenced dentists undertaking advanced postgraduate training in dental specialties in a hospital setting.

The General Practice Residents Research Day started at the BC Cancer Agency Research Centre lecture theatre with residents presenting their year-long residency research projects.

In the evening, at Brock House Restaurant, an awards and certificates of completion ceremony and dinner was held. Fifty-six people attended—faculty and staff of the GPR program. Fourteen residents completed the General Practice Residency Training Program this year.

Highlights of the awards:

Young showed exceptional performance both didactically and clinically. She scored in the 90th percentile for the didactic component of the IV sedation exam and consistently showed up for IV clinic prepared with an updated patient medical history and any possible interactions/concerns with sedation extensively reviewed. She was always concerned with the safety and best interest of her patient.
