BCDA Award Recipients 2011: UBC Faculty and Alumni

The British Columbia Dental Association (BCDA) honoured several UBC faculty and alumni at the annual BCDA Toothfairy Gala in Vancouver on March 12, 2011.

Clinical part-time faculty member Dr. Barbara Bradey was honoured for her generosity to the dental profession, patients and education with the Distinguished Service Award.

Dr. Bob Coles, a DMD 1986 graduate and member of the Dean’s Advisory Board, was awarded the President’s Award for his many years of service and leadership to organized dentistry.

Dr. Anthony Li, a DMD 1979 graduate, earned the Distinguished Service Award for his extensive involvement with the Chinese Canadian Dental Society of British Columbia—in particular for the organization’s fundraising initiatives to support dental research and education at a local and international level.

Dr. Angelina Loo, a clinical assistant professor and DMD 1985 graduate, received a Merit Award for her contributions to the profession, in particular, her passion for helping children with craniofacial anomalies.

Dr. Thomas Martin (DMD 1987) was honoured with a Merit Award for his dedication to quality continuing education programs in the Okanagan.

Dr. Mark Parhar, a DMD 1997 graduate who is now studying in Dentistry’s Endodontics Graduate Program, was recognized for his contributions to sports dentistry with a Merit Award.

DMD 1984 graduate and part-time clinical instructor Dr. Ronald Thompson was also given the Merit Award for his contributions to the dental profession, most notably, his extensive work and experience with fee guide initiatives.
