CDA Oasis Discussions: ACFD educational framework for the development of competencies in dental programs

Oasis Discussions, a Canadian Dental Association (CDA) community of practice website, released a video interview about the recently revised Association of Canadian Faculties of Dentistry’s (ACDF) educational framework document for the development of competencies in dental programs.

Chiraz Guessaier from CDA’s Oasis Discussions explains the framework was revised from a 2005 document in order to meet the needs of an evolving population of dental graduates as well as an increasingly complex patient population.

She interviewed Dr. Anne Charbonneau, professor, Faculty of Dentistry, Université de Montréal, and Dr. Leandra Best, clinical professor and associate dean, Academic Affairs, Faculty of Dentistry, University of British Columbia (UBC). Charbonneau contributed to the development of the framework’s new competencies and Best participated in the implementation of this new educational framework in the UBC Faculty of Dentistry.

Watch the video below (or on oasisdiscussions.ca) to learn more about the revised ACDF educational framework document, including a discussion about the creation of it for all Canadian faculties of dentistry and how its competency framework has been implemented at UBC.
