Faculty members share views in the Globe and Mail’s CDA information supplement on Oral Health Month

April 27, 2010 – In recognition of April being Oral Health Month, the Canadian Dental Association (CDA) published an information supplement in the Globe and Mail newspaper, titled, “Oral Health. Good for Life”. Several prominent BC dentists are featured including UBC professor and chair of the Division of Pediatric Dentistry, Dr. Rosamund Harrison, and UBC Dentistry dean and professor, Dr. Charles Shuler.

As expert on oral health promotion and the prevention of early childhood tooth decay in disadvantaged children, Dr. Harrison discusses modern assumptions and breaks myths about children’s oral health needs on page 2 in “Good dental care starts early”. Read the article here>>

Dr. Charles Shuler recognizes the oral health disparities among residents of Vancouver especially people living in the Downtown Eastside. In the article on page 6, “Clinic offers care to less fortunate’, Shuler discusses UBC Dentistry’s involvement and goal: “…to instill the concepts of social responsibility in our students and to help less-fortunate people receive oral health care they otherwise wouldn’t receive.”
