The Patterson Dental Learning Centre (PDLC) is a state-of-the-art dental clinic at UBC Dentistry dedicated for dentists and their various study clubs to practice and advance their techniques in a clinical setting. It provides sustainable access to continuing dental education through dental study clubs as well as an integrated learning opportunity for the students.The Patterson Dental Learning Centre takes its name from donor Patterson Dental, one of Canada’s leading distributors of professional dental equipment and supplies.
Located in a space once known as the Sutherland Clinic on the ground floor of the John B. Macdonald Building, this comprehensive learning centre provides a modernized clinical setting with a new open design chair layout and high-tech equipment.

- Eleven A-dec 511 ambidextrous chair units with a 533 Continental Delivery System
- 3 enclosed & 8 open operatories
- One chair in main open clinic area equipped with webcam and microphone capable of transmitting to the lecture room pavilion
- A-dec handpieces (high, low & electric)
- Medical grade suction at all chairs
- Eight Sirona x-ray units with CCD sensors & computers with export capability
- A-dec sterilization centre including autoclave and HPC Cleaner
- CEREC omnicam
- Lecture room pavilion (16 seats) adjacent to the main open clinic area

How to Book
The Patterson Dental Learning Centre is available for use by all study clubs. Booking management is overseen by UBC Dentistry Division of Continuing Dental Education. To learn more about the space and to book sessions for your study club, please contact:

Help us sustain an outstanding education facility and instill a commitment to lifelong learning through the Patterson Dental Learning Centre. We have established the Friends of the Centre Fund to allow the dental community to support the day to day operation costs of PDLC as well as the chance to be part of its legacy in naming one of the operatories or learning areas within the centre.
