Research Day 2013

Technological Advances in Dentistry: Decision-Making in Clinical Use

Tuesday, January 22, 2013
UBC Student Union Building Ballroom

Technological advances in clinical practice continue to develop at an increasing rate. In-office cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) imaging and ultrasound machines allow unprecedented examination of patients, and new computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) systems and next-generation dental materials continue to transform patient care.

Research Day 2013 will highlight exciting ongoing research in the areas of CBCT quality control, dosimetry and imaging of the pediatric patient as well as provide an introduction to ultrasound imaging in dentistry. Next, we will discuss the exciting paradigm shift to CAD/CAM systems, review material selection and examine final restoration marginal fits.

Finally, it is our pleasure to announce that the keynote address will be delivered by Dr. Jack Ferracane from the Oregon Health & Science University in Portland. A world-renowned speaker on dental resin composites, Dr. Ferracane will discuss exciting research in the area of resin properties and performance enhancement.
