In Memoriam

We are saddened to share that William McDonald, DMD 1977, passed away on July 20. Dr. McDonald served the Faculty as an Assistant Professor from 1991 to 2004 and a Clinical Assistant Professor from 2005 to 2025. A respected oral and maxillofacial surgeon, Dr. McDonald dedicated his career to improving patient care and was a strong advocate for advancing cancer research through clinical trials.

He was generous with his time and had many hobbies, including playing bass guitar. He competed in the Battle of the Bands for many years and played with his band at UBC Dentistry’s 50th anniversary party at the Commodore. He is survived by his wife Joanne and daughters Paige and Holly.
