UBC is a registered charity, which means your gift to any UBC cause may be tax deductible, as allowed by the Canada Revenue Agency. There are a few ways to do this.
Make a gift online
Making a gift online with your credit card is the simplest and quickest way to give to causes you care about. You can make a one-time gift, set up a recurring monthly gift or pay an existing pledge online.
Looking for a particular fund? Type the name of the fund into our Find a Fund search bar or visit UBC's Memorial webpage to search for an in memoriam page.
Make a gift by cheque
You can also make a gift by cheque for any amount or currency. Please make your cheque payable to the “University of British Columbia.” If you would like your donation to support a specific fund, please include a note with your cheque and mail it to:
UBC Dentistry Development Office
105-2194 Health Sciences Mall
Vancouver, BC V6T 1Z3
If you need assistance, please contact Catherine Makischuk at catherine.makishuk@dentistry.ubc.ca
A gift-in-kind is a non-cash donation and includes items such as equipment, materials, computer programs and real estate. The UBC Faculty of Dentistry welcomes any gifts-in-kind for which it has a use from individuals and companies. Tax receipts for the fair market value are issued once the gift has been appraised and received, according to CRA regulations.

UBC Dentistry students are the next generation of oral healthcare professionals, researchers and educators. The UBC Dentistry Student Awards program provides financial support to our students and celebrates their academic achievements and leadership. These awards help students unlock their potential, making their future brighter and their goals achievable.
If you are interested in donating to an existing award or establishing a new one, please contact Catherine Makischuk at catherine.makishuk@dentistry.ubc.ca
Charitable foundations in the United States, the United Kingdom and Hong Kong have been established to support donors who want to give to UBC from these areas. All gifts go directly to your chosen cause and are used as directed.
A gift of securities is one of the most cost-effective ways to support UBC. Any publicly listed securities—including shares, bonds, warrants, stocks, mutual funds and segregated fund units—qualify.
An endowment builds a strong foundation for the present and future by providing ongoing support to UBC programs and students. When you create an endowment, your gift is invested for the long term and the annual interest from your gift is distributed according to the terms you have established. Endowments provide stable, dependable support for UBC programs and students, for this generation and the generations to come.
Leaving a gift to UBC in your will—or through other planned giving options—is a thoughtful way to make a lasting impact. Gifts such as bequests, annuities, or other kinds of planned giving allow you to support future generations of students and innovative research in areas you care about most. A bequest costs nothing now but allows you to support something you care about.
To learn more about ways to create a lasting legacy, please visit the Gift and Estate Planning page. If you have questions, please reach out to the Gift and Estate Planning team.
Giving a gift in memory of a loved one is a powerful way to honour their life and legacy. Search UBC’s memorial page to give online.
To establish an in-memoriam page for a loved one, please fill out the Create an In Memoriam page form.
If you are a UBC employee, you have the option to give by payroll. To set up a regular payroll donation, simply use the online payroll donation form. Your gift will automatically be deducted from your paycheque and your annual contribution will be noted on your T4 for tax purposes.
