The start date of Dr. Mary MacDougall, the new Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, will be Monday, August 28, 2017.

The start date of Dr. Mary MacDougall, the new Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, has been delayed from the original start date of August 1, 2017.

In a memorandum from Prof. Andrew Szeri, UBC Provost and Vice-President Academic, issued on July 31, 2017, stated that “Unfortunately, Dr. MacDougall’s work permit has not been issued and, thus, she has been delayed in starting the role as Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry.” Moreover, he writes, “We hope to hear positive news soon about her status.”

The Provost concludes that until she commences in the role as Dean, Dr. Leandra Best has agreed to continue serving as Acting Dean.
