In July 2024, Dr. Randa Soussou began the role of Assistant Professor in the Department of Oral Health Sciences and also holds the Professorship in Pediatric Dentistry, a joint endeavour between UBC Dentistry, the UBC President’s Academic Excellence Initiative and BC Children’s Hospital Foundation. As part of the professorship, UBC Dentistry is excited to welcome Dr. Soussou in her new role as Director of the Graduate Pediatric Dentistry Program, effective July 1.    

Dr. Soussou practiced for 11 years in a pediatric dental centre in Amman, Jordan, before moving to Vancouver with her family in 2012. She returned to school to pursue specialty training in pediatric dentistry at UBC, where she also obtained her Master’s in Craniofacial Science in 2018. Her graduate research focused on helping caregivers understand the importance of oral health care for children. Over the past year with UBC Dentistry, Dr. Soussou has provided extensive clinical supervision and educational leadership to graduate students and general practice residents and is involved in several research projects, both as an investigator and a supervisor.

The Faculty would also like to recognize Dr. Joy Richman for her excellent work and commitment as the Director of the Graduate Pediatric Dentistry Program. We thank Dr. Richman for her dedication and wish her tremendous success in her future endeavours.
