In Memoriam
It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Dr. Richard Gilsig on December 27, 2025. Dr. Gilsig joined UBC Dentistry as a part-time faculty member in 2009 and returned in 2013, and has remained a valued member of the Faculty. He is fondly remembered by colleagues and students for his dedication and care.
Dr. Gilsig is lovingly remembered by his wife, Ruth Lipton; his children, Samuel Gilsig (Erika) and Carly Gilsig; his step-daughters, Heather Muir, Kathleen Cashin (Ryan), and Ashley Winter (Iain); his grandson, Rowan; and by his extended family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.
A funeral and interment were held on December 30, 2025, at Temple Sholom Cemetery. May his memory be for a blessing.
