This course reviews 3 different types of partial coverage restorations: veneers, inlays, and onlays. During the presentation, the advantages and disadvantages of these types of restorations along with various factors important to consider will be discussed. Onlays will be compared to crowns to consider the ideal clinical situation for each of these options. The preparation designs, clinical procedures, and materials used for partial coverage restorations will be thoroughly discussed.

Just as people trained in CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver help save thousands of lives each year, people trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to help.

The course aims to showcase recent developments and workflows with robotic implant placements and workflows.

Friday, September 26 - Sunday, September 28, 2025 | HANDS-ON AT UBC | Limited Enrolment

This hands-on course offers instruction in all aspects of adult minimal sedation to include nitrous oxide/oxygen inhalation and oral sedation, as well as effective methods in dealing with anxiety control in general practice. Participants will learn various techniques and will have the opportunity to try several types of nitrous oxide and oxygen delivery units. The three day course satisfies the requirements for state or provincial dental boards or colleges who require 21 hours of continuing education to certify for combined inhalation and oral adult minimal sedation. The two day course is designed to achieve certification in nitrous oxide/oxygen inhalation sedation, with 14 hours of continuing education.

HANDS-ON COURSES

October 18 - 19, 2025 | HANDS-ON COURSE AT UBC

This Comprehensive Review of Local Anaesthesia program runs in tandem with UBC’s full Local Anaesthesia program. The course is a two-day course designed to teach and revisit basic and current concepts of local anaesthesia and administration of local anaesthetic agents. Come and participate in two full days that include lectures and an opportunity for hands-on practice of clinical techniques. Participants must be currently registered to practice in British Columbia and must be authorized and certified to administer local anaesthesia. As participants practice on each other, you must be able to receive local anaesthesia or you must provide a consenting stand-in for your partner.

October 18 - 19 and November 7 (evening) - November 8, 2025 | HANDS-ON COURSE AT UBC

UBC CDE’s Local Anaesthesia for Dental Hygienists program is a three and a half day course, designed to teach basic and current concepts of local anaesthesia, and administration of local anaesthetic agents. This course is comprised of two sessions. Participants practice on each other, therefore you must consent to receive local anaesthesia and related treatments or you must provide a consenting stand-in for your partner.

  • Session I: October 18 and 19 (full days), consists of lectures, clinical instruction, and application of clinical techniques.
  • Session II: November 7 (evening) and 8 (full day), written and clinical evaluations.

Saturday, October 25, Sunday, October 26 & Monday, October 27, 2025 | LECTURES, HANDS-ON & CLINICAL OBSERVATION | Limited Enrolment

This course will provide you practical, up to date, and clinically relevant information in Geriatric Dentistry with two lectures at UBC on Saturday and Sunday, including a hands-on glass ionomer workshop, and half a day on Monday observing clinical activity in a dental clinic located within a long-term care facility in downtown Vancouver. Participants have the option to register for the three day program or the two day program.

This study club will guide dental professionals to develop an approach to recognize and manage oral soft tissue changes that can be incorporated into their daily clinical practice. The group will examine case studies of oral soft and hard tissue lesions that have been seen in dental clinical settings. Each case will be reviewed with respect to the process of recognizing the tissue change and establishing the process for moving to a final diagnosis. Participants in the course will be encouraged to bring examples from their own private practices and all cases reviewed will have been initially identified in a general dental practice.

This study club will guide general dentists and dental specialists in the development of a systematic and biologically-based approach to radiologic image interpretation. Together, we will examine radiologic images that have been made in dental clinical settings, including intraoral, panoramic and cone beam CT images, review the scope and adequacy of the imaging examination, identify important imaging features of abnormalities, and develop a differential or definitive diagnosis for the abnormalities we have identified. Participants in the course will be encouraged to bring examples from their own private practices and all cases reviewed will have been initially identified in a general dental practice.
