In Memoriam

With great sadness, we share that our beloved colleague and friend Alan Lowe, DMD 1972, passed away on February 7. Dr. Lowe joined UBC in 1976 and retired from the Faculty in 2016. During his time with UBC Dentistry, Dr. Lowe was a visionary leader in oral appliance research. He was also integral in developing an undergraduate orthodontic program and trained over 2,000 dentists. In 2022, he established the Dr. Alan A. Lowe Entrance Award, given to one undergraduate student each year who demonstrates UBC pre-dental academic achievements and contributions to community service.

Dr. Lowe’s exceptional achievements and desire to give back were a testament to his character as a beloved mentor, colleague, and friend at UBC and beyond. He will be greatly missed.

Circle of Life Celebration Service and Concert

All are welcome to attend a service and concert in memory of Dr. Lowe, a beloved member of the St. Andrews-Wesley community. The concert and celebration of life service, featuring the complete Requiem by Gabriel Fauré and performed by the Ensemble at St. Andrew’s-Wesley United Church, is free and open to the public, according to last wishes.
