Dr. Marcia A. Boyd, DDS, MA, LHD (Hon), FACD, has been appointed to Member of the Order of Canada. She is a UBC Faculty of Dentistry professor emerita and former dean.
Established in 1967, the Order of Canada is the highest honour awarded to Canadian citizens for a lifetime of outstanding achievement, dedication to the community and service to the nation honouring people in all sectors of Canadian society.
His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, announced Dr. Boyd’s appointment on July 1, 2014 for her contributions to the field of dentistry and for her stewardship of the profession.
Dr. Boyd was dean of the UBC Faculty of Dentistry from 1992 to 1994. She is currently senior associate at ROI Corporation, a national dental practice appraisal and sales corporation.
Recipients of the Order of Canada will be invited to accept their insignia at a ceremony to be held at a later date at Rideau Hall, the Governor General’s residence in Ottawa. Click here for more information about all the recent appointments to the Order of Canada.
