UBC Dentistry is excited to announce two new dental hygiene awards available to students in the 2024-25 academic year.
Nurani Family Award in Dental Hygiene
A $2,500 award has been made available annually through a gift from Dr. Nooredin Nurani for a graduating Bachelor of Dental Science student who demonstrates community service and leadership in the dental hygiene community. Dr. Nurani, a refugee from Uganda, is a practicing dentist in Atlanta, Georgia. He established this award to support the next generation of dental hygienists.
Dr. Saida and Firoz Rasul Award in Dental Hygiene
A $2,000 award has been made available annually through a gift from Dr. Saida Rasul OBC and Firoz Rasul for a graduating Bachelor of Dental Science student who demonstrates community service and involvement in the dental community. Dr. Rasul, a recipient of the Order of British Columbia in 2015 and the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2012, and Mr. Rasul have established this award to celebrate the community contributions made by the next generation of aspiring dental hygiene professionals.
