In 2021, Dr. Edwin S.H. Leong, LLD, generously gifted the Faculty of Dentistry $1 million to develop and implement a technology platform to improve access to dental care for elderly long-term care residents.
In June, during his recent tour of UBC, Dr. Leong visited the Nobel Biocare Oral Health Centre to meet with Dr. Chris Wyatt, Shunhau To and Dr. Nicholas Tong, who shared an update on the Teledentistry project.
To welcome Dr. Leong, Dean MacDougall and Dr. Wyatt presented a special plaque acknowledging and thanking him for his generosity and support of this initiative and provided a personalized white coat to wear during the visit. Dr. Leong was impressed with a demonstration of the ‘ToothPortal’ app and engaged during the live patient demonstration.
