UBC PhD students win CADR-NCOHR awards

Madhurima Datta and Iris Lin, both PhD students, are among the winners of the 2019-2020 CADR-NCOHR Student Research Awards. Both are doctoral students under the supervision of Dr. Denise Laronde, Associate Professor in the Department of Oral Biological & Medical Sciences and Acting Director of the BC Oral Cancer Prevention Program.

Dr. Madhurima (Maddie) Datta received first place in the Senior–Clinical/Pre-Clinical Research category for her project “Predicting malignant progression in low-grade oral dysplasia using DNA image cytometry” and was selected for entry in the IADR/Unilever Hatton Competition which takes place during the IADR/AADR/CADR meeting in Washington, DC in March 2020. She will have travel and hotel covered for the conference.

 

Ms. Iris Lin received a travel award in the Senior–Clinical/Pre-Clinical Research category for her project “Determining the malignant nature of dysplasia in oral lichenoid lesions.” She will present her research at the IADR/AADR/CADR meeting in Washington, DC in March 2020.
