Renowned expert in dental sleep medicine at UBC, Dr. Fernanda Almeida, assistant professor in the Department of Oral Health Sciences, will present a series of five lectures at the upcoming 6th Conference of the Canadian Sleep Society. The conference will be held from October 4 to 6, 2013, in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Conference organizers are excited about this year’s dental program which includes talks focused on obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), pediatric OSA, non-surgical as well as dental appliances for the treatment for OSA, and long-term effectiveness of oral appliance therapy.
Presentations will be by experts in dental sleep medicine and in sleep medicine.
Over the three-day conference, Almedia’s lecture’s will address the following topics:
- Efficacy of Dental Appliances in the Treatment of OSAS
- Titration of Mandibular Positioning in OSA Patients, When is it Enough?
- Dental and TMJ Side Effects of Oral Appliance Therapy
- Pediatric Sleep Apnea, The Orthodontist Role
- Cardiovascular Effects from Oral Appliance Treatment
Dentists attending the conference may earn up to 10.5 hours continuing dental education credits. Conference and registration details below.
